Mountain Bike Uplift Terms & Conditions

Attention

  • MTB Uplift Season Passes purchased via the Instalment option are non-refundable from the date of the first payment.
    • 3 equal amount instalments, MTB Uplift Pass can only be collected after full payment is made
    • $21 Admin Fee split equally across all instalments
    • $30 late payment fee for every payment not made in time
  • Due to ongoing developments at the Skyline Top Complex, there will be increased traffic on the Skyline Access Road. Please take extra care at points where bike trails cross the access road.
  • Forestry work in and around the Skyline Gondola is scheduled for the duration of the 2025/26MTB season, and this may impact the operational hours of the Skyline MTB uplift service.

Operations

  • The Ben Lomond Trails (bike park) are not owned or operated by Skyline Queenstown. It’s a feature of the Ben Lomond Recreation Reserve (which is managed by Queenstown Lakes District Council). The bike park is available for public use and can be accessed from multiple locations within the reserve. Skyline Queenstown simply provides customers with a Gondola assisted uplift service to the Skyline Queenstown Top Terminal.
  • Skyline Queenstown does not patrol the Queenstown bike park.
  • Skyline Queenstown reserves the right to close, suspend, or change, Gondola services and/or bike carriage, operating times, or refuse people entry, at its own discretion.
  • Gondola service and/or bike carriage is likely to be stopped or suspended by Skyline Queenstown whenever the Ben Lomond Recreation Reserve is closed by QLDC (due to high fire risk, heavy rainfall or other unforeseen circumstances).

Passes

  • The Skyline Queenstown ‘Mountain Bike Uplift Pass’ entitles the pass owner (along withonebike) to Skyline’s Gondola Uplift Service.
  • The Skyline Queenstown ‘Mountain Bike Uplift Pass must be presented to Skyline Queenstown staff to validate the passholders benefits (basically, no pass = no Gondola ride).
  • Skyline Queenstown reserves the right to review passholder benefits and prices.
  • Skyline Queenstown ‘Mountain Bike Uplift Passes’ are non-refundable and non-transferable. The only exclusions to this rule apply to pass holders who also purchased the Skyline MTB Uplift Pass Cover (detailed below).
  • All lost passes will incur a replacement fee of $10.
  • Unauthorised use of a Skyline Queenstown ‘Mountain Bike Uplift Pass’ will result in the immediate revocation of the pass and may result in prosecution.
  • Skyline Queenstown ‘Mountain Bike Uplift Passes’ are only valid for use within the season purchased.
  • The Skyline Queenstown 25/26 Mountain Bike Uplift SeasonPass’ is valid for the duration of the 2025/2026 MTB season only. Please note that season dates can vary, however, indicative season dates are late-September 2025 to early-May 2026.
  • Skyline Queenstown ‘Mountain Bike Uplift Passes’ are not valid for commercial use.

Skyline MTB Uplift Pass Cover Policy

Pass Cover is your insurance policy for your Skyline MTB 50 Uplift, 100 Uplift and Season Uplift Pass in the event you sustain an injury or medical condition which prevents you from using your pass for the remaining current season.

A refund percentage is to be calculated based on the use of the pass, outlined in the table below:

  • Refunds only extend to the value of the pass type purchased and do not cover any additional associated expenses. The Pass Cover charge is additional to the value of the pass and will not be covered by any refund. Refunds will be made to the credit/debit card used to purchase the pass and the pass will be cancelled.
  • To apply for a refund please contact our team at skylinequeenstownreservations@skyline.co.nz. You may be required to supply a doctor’s note as evidence to support the injury/medical claim.
  • Skyline Queenstown reserves the right to obtain independent advice to validate any claim.
  • Refund applications will only be considered during the current season the pass is eligible for. Any applications submitted after April 23rd of the current season will not be processed.
  • Pass Cover can only be added when initially buying the 50 Uplift, 100 Uplift and season pass and cannot be added later. Pass cover is only available for 50 Uplift, 100 Uplift and season Uplift passes.
  • Refunds will be made in New Zealand Dollars. If you paid by a credit card denominated in a foreign currency, the refund amount in your foreign currency may differ from what you were originally charged due to changes in foreign exchange rates, non-refundable or additional bank or credit card charges, or other factors. Skyline Queenstown will accept no liability for any loss that may be suffered due to these factors in relation to the amount refunded.

Equipment

  • Bikes must be fully assembled and safe to transport.
  • Wheels must be securely fastened to the bike frame prior to loading the Gondola.
  • Skyline Queenstown takes no responsibility for bikes during carriage.

Safety

  • Skyline Queenstown reserves the right to refuse Gondola entry to any individual who clearly appears unsafe and/or presents obvious risks to themselves or others.
  • Skyline only provides a Gondola Uplift Service and does not take responsibility for personal injury or damage to property in the Ben Lomond Recreational Reserve.

Conduct

  • Riders must ensure cabins are kept clean (dry and free of mud, dirt or litter) for all other Gondola guests.
  • Under no circumstances should the cabin doors be forced open for ventilation; charges will apply for any repairs or maintenance required.

 

Mountain Bike Uplift Season & Monthly Parking

  1.  Entry and exit for MTB Season & Monthly parking is at the “Public” Barrier controls located at the visitor (or left side) entry and exit points of the carpark. MTB Parking pass holders’ entry and exit are gained by having a vehicle pre-registered into the carpark database and identified through the License Plate Recognition (LPR) system as they enter and exit the carpark.
  2. MTB Parking pass holders must park within the lined area of each bay. Any vehicles not following the correct procedure, may result in their vehicle receiving a Parking Notice (PN).
  3. All MTB Pass holders with a 50 run, 100 run or full MTB season pass are eligible to apply for an MTB Season or monthly parking pass. They can be purchased online or onsite but will only confirmed by the Car Park Management team once all details are complete and requirements met.
  4. MTB Parking passes to include the following details: Customer name, vehicle registration number(s), telephone number and email address.
  5. MTB Parking passes may register up to two vehicles, however, only one vehicle at any one time will be granted MTB Parking pass privileges within the carpark.
  6. A vehicle registration number can only be registered to one person. If a vehicle is shared it will need to be registered to one MTB Parking pass customer.
  7. MTB Parking passes are only to be used on days where the pass holder is scheduled to visit the Ben Lomond Reserve.
  8. All SQ parking privileges are on a daily first come first serve basis. Once the carpark is full then no other parking concessions are available.
  9. Car parking terms and conditions are subject to change. Any misuse will be reviewed by the Carpark Management team, and if deemed necessary, privileges will be removed.

Accessibility Parking

  1. There are three designated accessibility parking spaces on levels 2, 3 & 4 (nine total). These spaces are specifically designated for accessibility badge holders.
  2. All accessibility parking is subject to SQ’s car parking rules, regulations, and systems. If the accessibility parking spaces are occupied, customers should contact the SQ Carpark Management team who will attempt to source a reasonable alternative location. Any customers not following the correct procedure, may result in their vehicle receiving a Parking Notice (PN).

Validity & Expiration of MTB Parking passes

  1.  The validity of the MTB Season pass will be the entirety of the MTB season as set by Skyline Queenstown. Exact dates to be confirmed but scheduled to run from a date in September 2025 to the season’s conclusion at a date in May 2026.
  2. The validity of the Monthly MTB Parking pass will be for 30 days from confirmation of the parking privileges from the SQ Carpark Management team. This will be within 72 hours of purchase. Prior to expiry the pass holder will receive notification that expiry is imminent and provided an opportunity to extend for a further 30 days if required. If not extended, the parking privileges will be deactivated on the 31st day.
  3. At the close of the season, all MTB parking passes will have their parking privileges de-activated.

EV Charging

  1. There are no parking privileges within EV spaces allocated with the use of the MTB Parking pass.

Parking Offences

  1. Not parked within designated parking bay – no cancellation of a Parking Notice (PN).
  2. Parking in an accessibility bay without displaying a valid accessibility badge – waived on production of a valid accessibility badge.
  3. Parked in a reserved space – no cancellation of PN.
  4. Parked in an EV charging space – no cancellation of PN.
  5. Parked outside of designated parking space, unauthorised and or a restricted space – no cancellation of PN.
  6. Parked to cause obstruction or inconvenience to others – no cancellation of PN.
  7. Parked on verge or curbside – no cancellation of PN.

Parking Notices (PN)

  1. Recorded offence will be a charged amount higher than a day rate for a pending offence.
  2. The summary of public parking offences is not intended to serve as a definitive list but shall form the foundation and structure for the creation of parking offences tailored to address the parking problems encountered at SQ site and carpark.
  3. The creation of additional parking offences remains the decision of SQ. This can include temporary suspension to full cancelation of parking privileges with no financial reimbursement.
