Supporting Our Communities

Skyline Queenstown, a brave and caring organization, has been an integral part of the local community since its humble beginnings in 1967.

We have embarked on the most substantial capital investment in our history

In an operating environment whereby international travel is unlimited (pre-covid), we welcome over 900,000 visitors per year while operating within a host community of approximately 40,000 residents. We have embarked on the most substantial capital investment in our history, upgrading our Gondola and facilities, which will future-proof our business for the next 50 years.

To continue operating successfully within the Queenstown community, Skyline has dedicated significant resources to increase local engagement, reflecting our core values of bravery, care, and action. Our Corporate Social Responsibility plan serves as the blueprint that facilitates strong relationships between our community members and the Skyline family. It ensures that we deliver on our objectives and contribute to creating a better place for our people, our community, and our environment, both now and in the future.

Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) program

Central to our community engagement is the growth of our Gondola Annual Pass (GAP) program. The bravery of our community members in joining the program is crucial. The value-for-money of GAP makes it a must-have in the community, empowering locals with unlimited Gondola access to Bob’s Peak. This pass allows them to enjoy our range of Skyline experiences with visiting friends and families. It also includes company-wide discounts, exclusive local promotions, and invitations to monthly events, further demonstrating our commitment to care and action in the community.

Giving back to the community is at the heart of our values

As Skyline Queenstown, we deeply value our connection with the local community and we are committed to actively engaging with the communities in which we operate.

Giving back to the community is at the heart of our values. Each year, we contribute $250,000 through targeted sponsorships to local organizations, with a focus on sustainability pillars such as People, Place, and Prosperity. By supporting various community initiatives and causes, we strive to make a positive impact and support the growth and well-being of the places we call home.

In addition, we have built long-term relationships with key community groups that effect positive change by sponsoring:

  • Basket of Blessings
  • Graeme Dingle Foundation
  • Queenstown Marathon volunteers
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Wakatipu Junior Rugby Club
  • Whakatipu Wildlife Trust
  • LUMA Southern Lights Festival
  • Tour of NZ
  • Queenstown Mountain Bike Club
  • Whakatipu Wilding Control Group
  • Central Lakes Family Services
  • Wakatipu High School Foundation
  • Big Buddy Programme
  • Lakes District Air Rescue Trust
  • Queenstown Primary School

In summary, at Skyline Queenstown, we are more than just an iconic attraction. We are deeply rooted in the fabric of the community, and our commitment to actively engage with our community members shines through our diverse initiatives.

By promoting accessibility, sustainability, education, and safety, we strive to create lasting positive impacts that uplift the lives of those who call this beautiful region home.
